Can the Bike Wheels Be Removed Before Loading Bikes on Hollywood Racks Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack
Question:
Greetings, I am interested in purchasing this bike rack, and I have 2 bikes to transport half-way across the country from FL to IA with my Suzuki Grand Vitara 2008. Anyway, I noticed from pictures that the rims stick out wider than the vehicle when mounted and the strap is attached to the frame. Do the rims need to be included in the mounting? Said another way, can I have my rims removed prior to mounting in order to prevent other vehicles from hitting them and ruining my bikes?

You can take the wheels off of your bikes if you want to and then load the bike frames on a bike rack such as # HRSR1 on your 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara. It is likely not necessary on regular bikes though (but would be on a tandem) because the bikes won't stick out further than the mirrors.
