2-Bike Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendations for 2017 Kia Sorento with Access To Rear Cargo

Question:

What is the best rear of vehicle 2-bikes rack for my 2017 Kia Sorento? Im looking for the best combination of ease of opening the back **WITHOUT** having to bend the rack away like my Hollywood rack on my VW Sportwagen...OR...if bending is necessary that levers exist to **easily/QUICKLY** open the rack away for the car for groceries. Im also looking for a rack that is TIGHT/SQUEAK FREE and reliable year round, as it will stay **PERMANENTLY** on vehicle. Also, itd be great if it didnt scrape the concrete entering/exiting steep angle driveways. Price isnt a factor as much as all the key features being met. If you can give me some options, itd be great!

To meet all of the features you're looking for a hitch mount bike rack is going to be the best option. A trunk mount isn't something you'll likely want to leave on your 2017 Kia Sorento all of the time and it isn't going to give you the access in the rear hatch very easily. To access your rear hatch you will need a rack that either tilts away or swings away which many bike racks do. Also, since you said the rack will be permenantly on the vehicle, I would think a rack that locks to the hitch receiver would be important to make sure it's always safe and secure.

The Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack # TH9058 is a hanging rack that fits a Class I, II, or III trailer hitch receivers. It is a tilting rack to allow you access to your rear cargo area and it's easy to release with just the pull of a spring-loaded pin.

The Camber is a hanging rack. Which means the bikes will need a straight cross tube, like a typical men's bike has, in order to ride level on the racks. Depending on your bikes, this may require an adapter bar like the Kuat Ubar Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01. An adapter bar creates that straight cross tube to keep the bikes level while traveling.

Another option is a platform rack. Since the bikes are not hanging they will definitely not need an adapter bar. The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22B. This is another 2-bike folding rack. Here the bikes can also remain on the rack with it tilted. Of course it includes hitch and cable locks to prevent theft. It will also fold up against your vehicle when not in use.

I have attached video reviews of each rack for you to take a look at.

If you don't already have a trailer hitch receiver I suggest the Draw-Tite Max Frame # 75908. This is a Class III receiver that is designed to fit your Kia and will work with any of the bike racks I mentioned. I've linked an install video for you.
