Parts Needed to Install 7-Way Trailer Connector and Electric Brake Controller on 2016 Honda Pilot
Question:
I bought new 2016 pilot AWD EXL. Got towing hitch and 4 pin installed by uHaul. I realize I need 7 point towing connector to tow trailer and also get electric break controller added so I can tow trailer which have their own brakes. How I know that pilot can support and will work with this 7 point connector and signal from electric controller will come to this 7 point connector. I tried to ask dealer where I bought the car. they have no clue. I am very interested in getting controller and 7 point harness installed but not sure if my car can support it.

Your 2016 Honda Pilot can support an electric brake controller. Since you didn't have any factory trailer connector originally installed, you do not have the factory tow package. If you wish to verify this you can contact Honda with your vehicle's VIN and they can tell you exactly what features it originally came with.
To install a 7-way and the wiring for a brake controller you will need # ETBC7. This includes all the necessary wiring to have your Pilot ready to use a trailer with brakes. The only additional part you'll need a is a brake controller. For a controller I suggest the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. You will need to hardwire the controller into your vehicle's wiring. I've attached an insallation video of the P2 being installed using the # ETBC7 into a 2014 Honda CR-V, as well as some help articles that you may find useful.
