Landing Gear Skips and Legs Wont Extend When Raising Trailer Jack

Question:

My landing gear on my 08 forest river, Sandstorm goes down ok but, when putting weight on it by extending the landing gear it clicks like the teeth in the gear box are skipping and the legs wont extend any further. Please help!!! The motor was supposedly new when we recently purchased our toy hauler and the gears seem to look ok.

If it a jack isn't able to raise a trailer properly it's generally because it isn't getting enough power or there is hardware problem. I would first check the wiring and make sure there isn't a short. Also, inspect and clean the location of the ground. It needs to be a clean bare metal surface. Also, test the battery. It could be the motor is just fine but the battery isn't providing enough power and needs to be replaced.

If there isn't a power issue then the problem, and you've already verified the gears are okay the issue is likely the screw or nut that's inside the jack. On most jacks this not replaceable and you would need to repalce the entire jack.
