Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for 2012 Subaru Impreza 5 Door for 20 inch Bike Frame
Question:
I have a 2012 Subaru Impreza 5 door base model no extra spoiler. I want to use the bike rack for a bike for me, my wife, and 6 year old son. Some reviews say the TH911XT wont work even with the Swagman Standard Bike Adapter Bar for Womens and Alternative Bike Frames S64004 or the Thule Bike Adapter Bar for Womens and Alternative Frame Bikes TH982XT. See attached pic for a sample of childs bike I might get for my son Dynacraft 8109-34ZTJ Boys Throttle Magna Bike, Black/Red/White, 20. Im failing to see how the Adapter Bar will help if the 20inch size childs bike frame is too narrow in the first place. If the 20inch bike does fit on this rack and its a matter of it just being at an angle I dont see that will matter as long as its not near the ground, which it doesnt look like it would be at all. Thanks in advance!

For such a narrow bike frame you would need to go with a bike rack that has adjustable arms that allow them to be adjusted closer together. For that we have the Thule OutWay part # TH56BV which is a confirmed fit for your 2012 Subaru Impreza 5 door without a spoiler. This is the nicest trunk rack around so it would be a great option.
What makes this rack far superior to the others is the attachment system. It uses only 2 retractable coated steel cables to attach to the vehicle rather than the 4-6 nylon straps like other racks. This makes installation quick and easy and the cables also last longer.
The cables store inside the rack so there are no loose straps ends to flap around. The cables can also be locked into position to deter theft of the rack. And there is also an integrated cable lock in the last bike position to deter bike theft.
This rack also features the latest and greatest in road dampening technology which protects bike frames better than other cradles.
