Recommended Tire Chains For Off-Road And Snow Use On 1996 Lexus LX450
Question:
Please recommend snow tire chains for my 1996 LEXUS LX450. The truck has a 2inch lift for additional ground and tire clearance. Tires are Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac 265/75-16. The chains will be used on four wheels on snow and ice covered paved roads. They will also be used for traveling off road in snow, ice, and mud. I was looking at the Glacier Mud Service Snow tire Chains PWH2439S I also looked at the PEWAG All Square Mud Service Snow Tire Chains PWE2439S What do you think? Thank you.

For your lifted 1996 Lexus LX450, the very best chains would be the Pewag ASV Snow Tire Chains - Square Link - 1 Pair, # PWASV82. They are titanium alloy steel and have an asymmetrical pattern for maximum traction whether moving forward, lateral, or stopping. The heavy-duty design is ideal for severe weather conditions and off-road use.
A more cost efficient option is the Pewag All Square Mud Service Snow Tire Chains - 1 Pair, # PWE2439S, you mentioned. They are nickel manganese alloy steel construction which is also a durable chain. They are also designed for on or off road use. The cross chains offer more traction than similar style square link models. The chains stay taut with twist cams to ensure they won't come undone when you are reversing or navigating rough terrain.
The Glacier Snow Chains, # PWH2228SC, are made of Electro-galvanized finish and are a twist link chain. These are the most economic option that are decent chains, but are not as durable over time.
