Why Would Trailer Become Unattached to 2 inch Hitch Ball

I have a aframe bulldog trailer hitch on a welding trailer. I seldom go on the highway with it. Last week I was using it on my Ranch and the hitch came off of the ball and the tounge came off of the ball. It was a 2 inch ball but I replaced it anyway. Yesterday it came off again. Have you heard about a problem like this ? I am afraid to use this thing like it is. Please advise

Sounds like the coupler is designed for a 2-5/16 inch ball and because of that it's not securing to the 2 inch ball of your ball mount.

Other possiblity is that the latch of the coupler isn't totally latching or is broken. Most likely it's the wrong ball size as the only time I have seen this problem that has been why.
