The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22 to 72 Inches Wide, # 13703, is a bolt on or weld on application. This hitch receiver is rated for up to 350 lbs of tongue weight. Curt recommends the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap - Bike Rack Strap with Cambuckle, # 18050, for use with all non-trailer applications like a bike rack.

The discontinued Thule Apex 5 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches, although a very nice bike rack is not recommended for use on the back of a Travel Trailer or Motorhome. We do not have a 5 bike carrier for RV use. The extra movement on the back of a trailer compared to a passenger vehicle makes a bike rack with more sturdy, non-moving parts a necessity. Unfortunately manufacturers don't make a 5 bike rack for use on an RV or trailer. I recommend the Swagman XP - 4 Bike Rack for 2" Trailer Hitches, # S64940, for this application. It is a very sturdy rack designed for this use. It has a weight capacity of 35 lbs per bike. It also has a locking knob to secure the bikes to the rack.

With a hanging bike carrier, I recommend adapter bars like # 64005, for any bikes that lack a top tube in the frame. This adapter bar makes carrying women's, children's, or alternative frame bikes easy by creating a level and secure point of attachment to a hanging rack. I also recommend the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin for Swagman 2" Hitch Racks, # S64027, to protect your rack from theft.

To circle back to the strength of the trailer hitch, this Curt hitch would be able to support the bike carrier, and all the bikes with 166 pounds of rated capacity to spare.
