Recommended Brake Controller And Plug-In Harness For 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
I have a 16 Grand Cherokee with the trailer tow package, there appears to be a wire harness in the glove box for a brake controller. from this info can you make a recommendation of what I would need, I have a 2 ax trailer with a 5,000 lb rating, not sure if it has brakes on both ax or just one, ideally I would be able to just plug in and use controller on the very few occasions I would use that trailer, but if that is not an option can mount it perm

If you have the trailer towing package and a 7-way trailer connector at the back of your 2016 Grand Cherokee the brake controller installation is very simple. The harness you found in your glove box is probably a universal brake controller connector, and will not need to be used.
I recommend the P2 brake controller, part # 90885. I recommend the # 90885 because it is easy to install and operate.
You can also use the custom plug-in adapter, part # TK93VR. It just plugs into the built-in port under your dash. The port is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. I have attached a link to an installation video for a brake controller you can take a look at.
If you do not have a trailer connector at the back of your Jeep you can use part # HM40975. This uses the plug located behind the rear bumper.
