Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2016 Honda Civic Coupe LX

Question:

Hello, I have a 2016 Honda Civic Coupe LX and I wanted to install a trailer hitch to tow a Harley Davidson Fatboy. The trailer weighs about 350 pds and the bike another 580 pds. Will this trailer hitch accommodate me for what I need? Also the wiring harness is this a plug and go? Does the wiring harnesses need to be spliced? I am concerned about voiding the warranty and even though Honda told me I can do it Im still a bit concerned. I figure I am gonna try and get it in writing from the dealer first, but want to know all of the details of the hitch and harness install before I do. If you can help me Id be ever so grateful.

The trailer hitch for the 2016 Honda Civic Coupe is Curt hitch # C92UR. It is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight so it can handle the trailer and bike. The recommended ball mount is # 3593 and you can use 1-7/8 inch ball # 19257 or 2 inch ball # 19258.

And for a trailer wiring harness use # C56324. It plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring. I have linked instructions for the wiring and hitch for you.

When you install an aftermarket part on your vehicle like a trailer hitch in this case, you are protected by the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. This act states, in part, that unless the installation and the part caused a problem then the warranty cannot be voided. I recommend looking it up online.
