Recommended Method for Installing Erickson Adjustable Ratcheting Wheel Net with Hooks EM58522

Question:

I am looking to purchase the following product. Erickson Adjustable Ratcheting Wheel Net w/ Hooks - 4inch Wide - 3,333 lbs Code: EM58522. I have a flat bed car hauler. Can I use the side stake pockets for attachment? If not, I will purchase and install D rings on the trailer floor. How far apart do the D rings need to be per tire? How much in front of the tire and how far behind the tire. I assume that the ratchet will be in front of the front tires and the ratchet will be behind the rear tires to pull against each other, is that correct? Thanks.

The Erickson Adjustable Ratcheting Wheel Net with Hooks # EM58522 can be attached to your trailer's stake pockets (presuming they offer enough strength for securing the weight of the car loaded on the trailer) but I still recommend installing a deck-mounted D-ring like Brophy's # RR5K. Their ideal placement will depend on your tire size. Once you have the nets you'll easily tell where to place the D-rings.

This assembly offers a 5000-lb load rating and features an anti-corrosive zinc plated finish. A backing plate for the underside of the deck for additional strength and the required mounting hardware are included. You will need two of the D-rings for each of the wheel nets.

It does not matter which side of the wheel net assembly, hook or ratchet, faces forward since each net will be pulling downward on the tire. The front and rear wheel nets do not pull against each other, only downward. You may also want to use an axle strap kit like # 08504-05 for an additional point of securement for the loaded car.
