Yes, the Tekonsha PowerTrac Brake Controller # 39523 will work in a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. If you do not have the wire plug from your old truck, I recommend buying part # 7894 a replacement brake control wire plug. If your vehicle does not a factory 7-way, use part # PK11898 trailer connector socket w/ wiring harness.
When installing this brake controller on the new body style 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks you will have to install additional wires under the hood.
You first need to locate the bundle of wires below the steering column that tied together with white tape. This wire bundle is for the tow package for the brake controller. Cut tape and pull wires down from under the steering column. Connect the four wires in the harness to the four wire plug that mounts into the back of the brake controller.
Under the hood, remove the cover for the power distribution box, located on the driver's side. The ring terminal for brake controller power is located directly to the right of the power distribution box.the ring terminal for the 12-volt power to the 7-way is located at the left of the power distribution box. Attach this wire to post M8 in the distribution box.
I have attached a help article that has step by step directions for this installation and a video for you to reference.
