Fifth Wheel Towing Solution for 2017 GMC 2500HD Short Bed with Factory Rail Kit

Question:

I just purchased a 2017 GMC HD2500 crew cab with standard bed. This truck includes the fifth wheel prep kit. This will be mated to a Crusader 322RES 36 foot fifth wheel. Will the Q16 work with the 2017 GMC? Do you see any issues this setup with the Crusader 322RES? Before I buy I wanted to see if I should upgrade to a slider rig for clearance. I have 20 years towing a trailer but this my first try with a fifth wheel configuration

Since you have a short bed 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD we really don't have a slider hitch we can recommend yet for the rail kit as there have been no slider hitch fits released for your truck at this time. Only solution I can provide is to use the B and W Companion part # BWRVK3700 with a Sidewinder pin box installed on your trailer.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
