We can help you get your 2014 Silverado 1500 long bed ready for towing your trailer. Your owner's manual is the best place to confirm the truck's towing capacity but you can also check with your local dealership using the truck VIN.

It sounds like you need a 2-inch ball mount with about 4-inches of drop to allow your hitched trailer to remain level, which is important for good handling. You can use ball mount/ball combo # C45056 or use our ball mount kit # 989900 which has two ball mounts, 2 balls and a pin and clip in a handy bag. This kit means you'll have more flexibility if you ever need to tow other trailers. The linked article shows how to determine what ball mount you need.

If you don't already have a 2-inch hitch on the truck I suggest the Class IV Curt # C14006 since it offers a much higher 10K towing capacity than the Class III hitch # C13175. 7-Pole connector # HM40975 is correct for your truck.

For a brake controller you just can't beat the Prodigy P2 # 90885 for performance and reliability. You will plug in this unit using wiring adapter # 3016 that connects to P2 to the under-dash port on the truck as shown in the linked installation video.
