Recommended Trailer Hitch and Folding-Tilting 4-Bike Rack for a Honda 2013 CRV EX
Question:
After several hours review of options on your site, Im seriously considering the purchase of a hitch and bike rack vs the recommended trunk bike rack. However, my initial query reflected the recommended hitch as the Curt Hitch, but noticed a response for recommendations on the same year CRV LX was the Draw Tite Hitch. It appeared the recommendation was primarily based on the Curts warranty and installation instructions was the need for a security strap to the car which presumably is not necessary for the Draw Tite. Could you clarify which is recommended for my car and reason? Thank you.

Both Curt and Draw-Tite hitches are solid choices. However, I definitely recommend Draw-Tite # 75742 because it is more cost effective without sacrificing quality. The security strap that you referred to for Curt is not necessary when using your new bike rack with the Draw-Tite hitch as well. Please check out the attached installation and best hitch videos for more details.
If you're interested in transporting up to 4 bikes while not limiting access to your rear hatch, I would recommend the Thule Hitching Post Pro - Folding Tilting 4 Bike Rack # TH934XTR. This hitch bike rack is backed by an industry leading brand without breaking the bank. Check out the linked 2013 Honda CR-V review video.
I also suggest using the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes # 64005 for carrying bikes with alternative frames. This adapter is easy to use, economical, and works well with the Thule Hitching Post Pro rack.
