4-Way to 5-Way Adapter Recommendation for 2016 Mazda CX-9

Question:

I just installed part #118278 in my 2016 Mazda CX9. I did submit a comment to help others with this job. My trailer requires 5 wires and I need to add a 5th wire from the backup light circuit to an adapter I use that plugs into the flat 4-wire connector of part 118278 and presents a flat 5-wire connector to my boat trailer. I have no idea where the backup light circuit is located. Can you help?

The back up circuit will be found at the reverse light harness of the vehicle. You will need to find the circuit that carries 12 volts only when the vehicle is in reverse that runs to the reverse light circuits of your 2016 Mazda CX-9. For an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 5-way you will want the part # 20036.

To find the circuit you will need a tester like the part # PTW2993.
