Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2012 Toyota Prius Plug In for Bike Rack
Question:
I have a 2012 plug-in Prius. i also have a bike rack to fit a 2inch receiver. How much ground clearance will your 2inch trailer hitch mounts leave? The rack used to go on a Subaru and would frequently scrape when going up or down steep driveways.

For your 2012 Toyota Prius there are only Class I, 1-1/4 inch trailer hitches available. The 2 inch hitch size is typically only seen on larger vehicles like trucks and SUVs. For a hitch confirmed to fit your 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In we have the Draw Tite hitch part # 24847.
You are going to have to upgrade to a bike rack compatible with this hitch size since the adapters needed would not be a good choice since they add length which reduces ground clearance and causes hitch capacity reduction.
The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video I attached for more info.
If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
