Choosing 4-Pole Wiring Harness for Non-Hybrid 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE
Question:
Do I need the T-One connector 118557 or can I use the Curt C56049 for my 13 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.4l non-hybrid. The difference I see is the direct 12 volt wire lead to the vehicle battery.

The Curt harness # C56049 and the Tekonsha harness # 118557 both are confirmed fits for your non-hybrid 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE. The one big difference between them, as you noted, is that the Tekonsha kit is a powered harness that can provide higher current output for the trailer's lights, up to 4.2-amps per stop/turn circuit and up to 7.5-amps for the running light circuit.
The Curt harness cannot deliver as much current since it relies on the car's own internal wiring to deliver the power for the trailer lights whereas the Tekonsha uses that one additional 12V power wire that runs up to the battery to provide the actual power for the lights. That one wire is the only difference in terms of installation and a helpful article is linked to help you with routing that one wire.
This powered type of harness will provide not only more output power for the trailer lights but also superior protection for the car from overloads and short-circuits caused by faults in the trailer wiring. This is the harness I recommend unless you are certain your trailer's light will not demand more power than the Curt harness can deliver.
