How Long of Bunks for a 12 Foot Long Porta Boat  

Question:

My trailer has 3ft outside d between the front and back crossbeam and will be used to haul a light 12ft boat Porta_boat . How long should the bunk be? not sure how much overhang This is an old trailer for a flat-bottom boat, so it never had bunks

The general rule of thumb is that you want your bunks to extend completely to the stern (rear) of the boat, or even and inch or two beyond. That way the transom has plenty of support as you drive down the road. The bunks can extend as far forward as you like really, but I think you'll find that about half the length of the boat is usually enough as the front of the boat is generally supported by the bow stop on the trailer.

For a 12 foot boat like your Porta Boat I would go with 6 foot long bunks like the # CE27840 for a pair.
