Trailer Tail Lights Not Working when Connected to a 2012 Nissan Frontier

Question:

So your saying that, if the plug in the kick panel is already connected then leave it and not put in the relay harness i purchased from etrailer? This truck had no hitch or 7 way plug. I put the hitch on and bought the 7 way and brake controller harness from you. I have no tail lights on trl. I have a 7 way tester to plug in and i have 12 volts lit up all the time. I checked all the fuses. Even the trailer tow fuse. My brake controller light up the green light when i put my tester in but not when i plug in trailer. The green light is supposed to tell you that you have secured connection to your trl. Im wondering after reading your advise if i should try to take out the relay harness in kick panel. What do you think?

On your 2012 Nissan Frontier I do believe there are tow package relays located under the hood. I have heard of this before on a similar truck. If not then it is entirely possible that adding in that harness with the relays behind the kick panel will solve the problem if it is indeed the proper location that you are seeing.

There is also another caveat that affects some Nissan vehicles and that is that the connectors where the 7-Way part of # 118266 plugs in are not all wired the same. This should just affect the 12 volt circuit and brake output circuit. But it is worth taking a look at to be sure. I have included a link to a help article on this matter.
