Trailer Hitch, Wiring and Weight Distribution for 2015 Dodge Durango

Question:

I am new to adding a trailer hitch to a vehicle that didnt come with one. Is it ok to add one to a 2014-2015 Dodge Durango that never had one? I want to be able to tow up to the maximum of the Durangos 6,200lb towing capacity. If it is possible to add one to the Durango, how much is it? and what parts would be needed to be included? Would I need a stabilizer or ant-sway thats what I think I seen it called? Thanks for any and all help.

For a 2015 Dodge Durango we do have hitch fits that would work well. The Draw Tite hitch part # 75713 has the highest towing capacity available at 6,000 lbs trailer weight and 900 lbs tongue weight so it would be the hitch I would recommend. This will fit a Durango that does not have a factory hitch. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

For trailer wiring the part # 118617 is recommended. I attached an install video for this as well.

Since you plan to max out your towing capacities you will need to use a weight distribution system as well. This will reduce sway and give you better braking and handling. It also bumps the towing capacity of the hitch I recommended up to 7,500 lbs.

For that I would recommend the part # RP66083 as it has a tongue weight range of 400 to 800 lbs which would fit your trailer well and because this features the only sway control on the market designed to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
