Trailer lights
Question:
Hello, I noticed that I dont have turn signals or brake lights illuminated on my boat trailer however when I turn on my head lights in my truck only the trailer running lights work the brake and turn lights do not work. We hooked up the trailer to another vehicle and all lights on the trailer work as required. Thoughts?

It sounds like there is either fuses or relays blown on the truck or the trailer connector on the truck side has corrosion in or on it. Checking the fuses and relays is easy. Just locate the tow package fuses/relays using the owner's manual or the legends on the fuse panel lids (many vehicles have fuse panels in the cab as well). For a relay the easiest way to check for a bad one is to use a known good one in its place.
Inspect the trailer connector and make sure it is clean and free of corrosion inside where the wires attach and outside on the pins.
