You are absolutely on the right track connecting weight distribution and trailer sway. A weight distribution system will help control sway as well as give you a safer and more comfortable ride.

For your application, I would recommend the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control, # RP66082. I really like this Reese system because it is proactive in preventing sway with its dual-cam sway control. This unique design automatically self adjusts for cornering or straight-line movement. This is a great feature that sets this system apart. I've attached a couple videos for you. This system does not come with a hitch ball, so I recommend a 2" Curt Hitch Ball with a 1-1/4 diameter shank, # A-90.

If you prefer a chainless system, I'd recommend the Equil-i-zer Weight Distribution System with 4-Point Sway Control, # EQ37060ET. This system uses steel-to-steel friction to minimize sway caused by curvy roads or crosswinds. This is a no drill, bolt on system. Equil-i-zer has a great reputation for this system. A Thin Walled Socket for Equal-i-zer Hitches is recommended, # EQ70-00-4800, and is sold separately.

Either system will allow you to back up without any adjustments.
