Compatibility of Class 3 Trailer Hitch with Weight Distribution System for a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
Question:
Hi. Can we use torsion bars on a class 3 trailer hitch??? or torsion bars are only designed to be used on calls IV and class V trailer hitch? We have a Santa Fe 2013 XL extended with V6, pulling a camping car trailer weighted @ 3 780 lbs. Best regards

Weight distribution systems can be used on trailer hitch receivers that are Class III or higher as long as they are properly rated for the trailer weight and the hitch itself is rated for weight distribution.
The Curt # C13152 would be a good hitch for your 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe and trailer.
To determine the best weight distribution system for your setup you will want to know the loaded tongue weight. If your trailer is 3,780lbs loaded then your tongue weight is typically between 10-15 percent of that. That would be anywhere from 378-567lbs of tongue weight. You'll need to include the weight of anything carried in the cargo area of your Santa Fe behind the rear axle as tongue weight. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
A good weight distribution for your above listed tongue weight would be the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66558 with a tongue weight range of 400-600lbs or if the tongue weight is closer to or above 600 lbs, go with # RP66559. This will come with everything you need except a trailer ball which depends on the size coupler you are hooking it up to. For a 2 inch ball you will want # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
I have linked a Help Article on how to determine trailer tongue weight for you to check out. If you find you have a different loaded tongue weight I went ahead and linked the all of the weight distribution systems we carry for you to see, and select the proper loaded tongue weight from the filters.
