Where to Place Fifth Wheel Rails in Truck Bed of 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 6-1/2 ft Bed

Question:

I am looking at the installation instructions for the 30035 base rail mounting kit by Reese. I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 double cab that has a 6 1/2 foot bed. I am trying to figure out where to mount the rear rail from the back edge of the bed. The first vehicle specific section is for a Chevy and GM 2011 and Newer, 2500 HD and 3500 HD Silverado and Sierrainch but there is not a distance for a 6 1/2 foot bed only a 6foot and an 8. The second vehicle specific section is GM ‘99 Silverado, Sierra not Sierra Classic models. Chevy and GM ‘00 and newer 1500 Silverado Sierra. ‘00 to 10’ HD models, and ’04 and up 1500 Crew Cab with 5’8” bed Reese SidewinderTM Pinbox required for 5’8” bed.inch I am guessing that i use the 25 1/8inch value that is stated for the 6 1/2foot bed? Thanks

For your 2014 Chevy Silverado with a 6-1/2 foot bed you would need to locate the front rail by measuring 47-1/2 inches from the rear lip of the truck bed forward. That is where the rear edge of the FRONT rail will sit. Then you would use the fifth wheel hitch to locate the rear rail. Basically once you have the front rail in the right spot the hitch will show you where the rear rail will need to be once you set the hitch into it.
