I did some research on the 2009 Jeep Compass models, and unfortunately you would not be able to to your vehicle with four wheels on the ground because it has an automatic transmission. Only the models with a manual transmission are able to be towed in this manner.
You might want to look into a tow dolly setup, like the RoadMaster dolly # RM-2000-1, as an alternative. This would still allow you to tow the Compass, but it would be more comparable with towing the vehicle on a trailer, as two wheels would be ran up onto the ramps of the tow dolly.
