Video Transcript for Review of ASA Electronics RV Air Conditioners - Advent Air Black Low Profile System - ASA36YR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Advent Air black low-profile 13,500 BTU RV air conditioner system. Now this low-profile air conditioner unit, it's gonna let you replace, upgrade, or even add a new air conditioner to your RV or camper. And this system is going to include this air distribution box, start capacitor, and electric heat strip. And the low-profile design of this air conditioner unit is going to minimize wind resistance, helping to improve your fuel efficiency, and this is also going to give you additional overhead clearance.

Now this 13,500 BTU per hour air conditioner is going to do a great job of quickly and efficiently cooling the inside of your RV or camper. And this is going to be compatible with your ducted or ductless systems. And this is gonna be a bolt-on installation with the included hardware that hopefully you can see there on that side of my table. So this is gonna be great for your motorhomes, your travel trailers, your fifth wheels. However, I do wanna make sure that you're aware of the fact that this is not approved for use on school buses, on food trucks, on enclosed utility trailers, or off-roading vehicles just so you're aware of that.

This is going to fit roofs from 2 1/2 inches to five inches thick with an opening size of 14 1/4 inches long and 14 1/4 inches wide. And let me give you some overall measurements of the unit itself just so you're aware of, have a good idea of the size. So measuring front to back, this is sitting at about 31 inches long. The overall height from top to bottom, we're sitting at about 10 1/8 inches tall. And then the overall width, we're sitting at about 24 15/16 inches wide.

And the unit itself weighs just a little under 70 pounds. Now let me go ahead and remove our cover. I went ahead and loosened and removed the screws just to make this a little bit easier and quicker to remove the cover, but I do want to give you a view of the inside and you have a little bit of a view there from that angle. But let me give you a better view overhead. So this does feature a fan blade with a three-speed motor that's going to give you ample airflow at 500 cubic feet per minute.

This air conditioner does also feature a condensation dispersion system, which is going to increase the cooling efficiency by managing moisture to prevent water runoff. So hopefully, you got a good view of the inside there. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the cover and talk a little bit about this cover. This is a very durable piece of plastic. I have seen and dealt with other RV air conditioners in the past, and sometimes, the covers can be kind of thin, kind of flimsy, and they feel like maybe they wouldn't take a good impact if something dropped on them. I don't think that's the case with this Advent Air cover. It feels like it's a pretty strong, relatively thick piece of plastic, so I think it's going to hold up really well over time. I think it's gonna do a great job protecting your unit from water and debris. And as you can see, it's very easy to remove, it's very easy to replace. So if you need to do a little bit of maintenance or if you need to do some cleaning on the inside, it's not gonna be hard at all. You just need a Philips screwdriver to remove those screws and then tighten them back down when you're done to secure that lid. Now the frame here is where it's a rigid frame. It's actually a metal frame, and underneath, you're not really gonna be able to see unfortunately, but we do have thick foam support pads. It's going to give you support between the roof of your RV and your air conditioner, and then a gasket is going to seal that opening to prevent air leaks and water seepage. And those pads at the base are gonna do a great job of reducing noise. Now let me go ahead and give you a closer view of this corner of my table just to go over the components that's included with this system. So we have our air distribution box. It has adjustable registers here at the top and the bottom or the front and the back as it's going to be installed in your ceiling. And so you're gonna be able to easily direct the air where you need it. And then we have a removable air filter here as well. So you just remove this cover, you're gonna be able to clean that filter and replace it to prevent dust and dirt building up on the fan blades. And then it does have a built-in thermostat that's gonna control your fan and your temperature settings. And the internal components are aluminum, so you're not gonna have to worry about rust or corrosion. I do have the setting on blocks here to prop it up, but I'm gonna go ahead and just kind of take it off the blocks here and try to give you just a view, overall view here just to see. So you have a register there and you have a register there, and this is actually how it's going to be mounted. This is about 3 1/2 inches thick, so it's gonna drop down about 3 1/2 inches from your ceiling. And let me go ahead and turn this around so you can just see the portion that's actually gonna stick up into your ceiling, so you have a bit of overview there. And so if you're wondering about the size of this air distribution box, the length from front to back or top to bottom as I have it here, it's right at about 22 1/2 inches or so. And then the width, we're sitting right at about 21 1/2 inches or so. So again, it kind of gives you an idea of the size of our air distribution box. Now another item that's included is this start capacitor. Let me bring this up a little bit closer so you can see. As you know, a start capacitor is going to jumpstart your air conditioner when the campsite that you're at or the generator that you might be using just does not give you enough power to start your air conditioner. This is actually gonna store energy that's gonna later be used for the next startup. So the start capacitor is included. It's gonna be a simple install inside of your air conditioner unit. And then this electric heat strip, and this has a rating of 5,500 BTU per hour. So this is gonna do a great job of removing the chill in the air on cold, frosty mornings. And again, this is going to install inside of your AC unit, and it's gonna be a very easy plug-and-play installation with this 30-inch power cord. And then you'll just activate the heat strip here on the thermostat, it has an optional heater setting there on that dial. So once you have it installed and plugged in, you just gotta turn the dial to it and it will warm up the inside of your RV or camper. This is UL and cUL certified. And of course, this is the black cover edition that we have here that we've been talking about, but we also do have this in a white cover option and you can find that option here etrailer.com. Also, if you're looking for an air conditioning unit with more BTUs per hour, we do carry this in a 15,000 BTU option. If that is something that you're interested in, you can find those options here at etrailer.com. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
