Comparing Thule Hitching Post And Vertex Bike Carriers For 2016 Toyota Sienna
Question:
Hi, I have a sienna 2016 xle limited awd. It has a class 3 hitch. I see you say the Thule hitching post pro is popular. I also see the Vortex XT which allows the loaded rack to be swung away. Any reason on if these is better than the other on this car? Thanks

Both of the bike carriers you mentioned are nice and have some great features.
The carrier I like is the Apex Swing 4 Bike Rack, part # TH9027XT. I like this rack because it swings entirely out of the way even with the carrier loaded when you need rear cargo access. This carrier has a locking cable in the mast to secure the bikes to the carrier and help deter theft.
The Hitching Post, part # TH934XTR is a nice carrier as well. This carrier tilts away from the back of your Sienna for rear cargo access. The bikes do have to be unloaded before tilting the carrier.
For added security you can add part # THSTL2 for both of these racks which is a locking hitch pin.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.
