Should Goose Box Be Used For 2016 Ford F-350 With 8-Ft Bed And Factory Tow Prep Package
Question:
Is there any advantage to the Reese goose box or do most 5ers stick with the OEM hitch ?

A Goose Box is designed to replace the pin box on a fifth wheel trailer and let you tow your trailer with the gooseneck hitch in the bed of your truck. We have a few options you can choose from depending on what you want to accomplish. If you tow multiple style trailers I recommend getting a fifth wheel hitch. You can remove the hitch if you need to tow a gooseneck trailer with your factory tow prep package. The best way to tow a fifth wheel trailer is with a fifth wheel hitch. They are designed to work together and customers seem to have less problems when using a fifth wheel hitch with their trailers.
You can use a Goose Box to replace the pin box on your trailer. It depends on the model pin box you have on your trailer. If you have a Lippert 1621 or 1716 and need 20,000-lb capacity, I recommend part # RP85FR. This pin box has a dual shock and air bag and reduces bouncing and chucking.
You can use a fifth wheel hitch like the B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch, part # BWRVK3300 that fits right in the pucks in the bed of your truck. With the dual jaws on the hitch you will have less jarring and chucking.
You can also replace the pin box on your trailer with a cushioned pin box. For example if you have a Lippert 1621 pin box, you can use the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box, part # LC328492 that uses a built-in shock and air bag to reduce chucking and jarring while towing. This is a fifth wheel pin box so it will work with a fifth wheel hitch like part # BWRVK3300.
I have attached a link to our product page for the cushioned fifth wheel pin boxes we offer. You can use the filter on the page to find the model pin box you have on your trailer and it will list the correct replacement.
