Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2009 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

I own a 2009 Toyota Tacoma v6 4x4 with a factory installed tow package. I need info on a stabilixer and sway bar assembly to tow my camper. I have a 650lb tongue towing capacity. I have done some research but was given your company name to check with. Please educate me on what I need to be safe on the road. Thank you.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Assuming you will be towing a trailer a bit under your 650 lb tongue weight limit I would recommend the Strait Line System part # RP66082 which has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs of tongue weight. This also features the only sway control on the market designed to fight sway before it starts.

If you are going to be around 500 lbs or higher the best option would be the part # RP66083 which has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs. Basically you will want to determine your loaded tongue weight and then go with either of the kits mentions depending on where your tongue weight would fall. The one that your tongue weight falls closest to the middle of will be the best option.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
