Recommendation for Class III, 2 Inch Receiver Trailer Hitch for GMC Terrain
Question:
I have a small hitch on my GMC Terrain - about 1 3/4 inch across. I want to convert it to a larger one that will pull my small yard trailer to the dump. It has a 2inch diameter I believe. I own a hitch with the ball that is about 2inch in diameter and would like to use it - but it is too big for the GMC. What do I need to do that wont cost a lot? Who do I need to talk to - show photos, etc???? Thank you,

It sounds like you currently have a Class II trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver size on your GMC Terrain. For a trailer hitch with a larger receiver, I recommend the etrailer Class III 2" Receiver # e98865 because it is our most cost-effective hitch option for your vehicle. This hitch is confirmed to fit the 2010 though 2017 model year GMC Terrain and will work great for you as long as you adhere to your Terrain's tow capacities.
I have attached an installation video of this hitch on a 2014 Terrain as well as the written installation instructions for the hitch. A couple of help articles related to installing a hitch and towing a trailer are also linked to this page for you.
It sounds like you already have a ball mount and a 2 inch hitch ball. It is important to make sure that the coupler on your yard trailer requires a 2 inch hitch ball so that the trailer hitches securely to the ball. A help article on choosing the correct ball mount to tow your trailer level is attached for you.
