Can Hitch Extender HE18 Be Used On Chevy Silverado 2500HD with Camper for Carrying Thule T2

Question:

Hi-I have a 2005 Silverado 2500HD, and just purchased a Lance truck camper. I want to use my Thule 2inch receiver bike rack behind the camper. I get your point about not exceeding the tongue weight, but can I use the 18inch receiver extender HE18 with the Thule, as my tongue weight maximum is higher with the 2500 HD? It may be over 1000#. The goal of course is to get the rackandbikes out behind the camper and use my existing rack. My 2 bikes weight 30lbs each. Thanks,

The # HE18 would work for you actually. As much as we try not to recommend the hitch extenders (especially these longer ones) in your situation the # HE18 is a totally viable solution.

Your bike rack and bike weight would be under the weight capacity of the extender that is 350 lbs and your truck's hitch capacity would be well over the amount needed for the weight as well.

I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel and need a 18 inch extender to tow my travel trailer. The trailer gross weight is 4800lbs and I'm not sure of the tongue weight. I think 500lbs. Would the Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 18" work for me

The Tow Ready Extender # HE18 will work really well as long as the hitch's reduced capacity on your Silverado still exceeds the 4,800 pound trailer weight. The extender will reduce the capacity by 50 percent.
