Brake Controller Install Harness Recommendation for a 2016 Toyota Tacoma

Have a 2016 Tacoma with towing package. Looking at the Tekonsha Prodigy p2. What else will I need. Does is come with wires with connectors on both ends?

The correct brake controller install harness to use for the Prodigy P2 part # 90885 in your 2016 Toyota Tacoma is the part # 3031-P.

I just did all this research with another 2016 Tacoma customer and found that your plug can be in one of two places.

If your dash looks like the first photo I've attached to this page your plug will be behind it, which by using a trim panel puller like # ALL648544, locate the notch in panel and pry the panel out and away from the dash being careful not to damage the trim or panel. Unplug the housings attaching the panel being careful not to damage locking tabs and set aside simply slides to the right and then will separate from the dash to reveal the plug. You will then want to carefully pull the housing towards the access panel and plug in the mating white housing from the brake control adapter f. Then locate a routing path for the adapter to exit the bottom of dash.

If your dash doesn't look like the first image your plug will be down by the driver side door, he had to loosen the lower side panel next to where a foot parking brake would go if equipped to be able to pull out the plug to expose it. He mentioned it wasn't labeled and compared it to the plug on the # 3031-P to find the match.
