The brake controller I recommend is the Tekonsha P2, part # 90885. This is a proportional brake controller that applies the brakes with the same intensity as the brakes on your truck when the brakes are applied.

You will also need the plug-in adapter, part # 22292. This adapter plugs into the back of the brake controller and the other end plugs into the harness located behind the dash as shown at about the 1 minute fifty eight second mark in the linked video.

You will need a 7-way connector when towing your trailer with brakes. The connector You will need is part # 37185. This plugs into the 4-way at the back of your truck and then you run the wires as the attached photo shows. You will need a 40-amp circuit breaker like part # 9510 and a 20-amp circuit breaker like part # 9506P for the wiring.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.

To mount the 7-way to your truck I recommend part # 18138. You can also use a no-drill bracket like part # C57202.

For additional wire I recommend part # 10-2-1 that is sold by the foot.
