Draw Tite Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Ford Fusion for Bike Rack
Question:
I want to install the Curt class ll trailer hitch on my 2016 Ford Fusion. Is it possible to trim the underbody panel and re-install it with this hitch? I prefer the Curt only because it is less visible than the Draw-Tite which does re-use the panel. I will use the Draw-Tite if I must. The hitch will be used only for a 2-bike carrier. Thanks for your help.

Since your plan is to carry a 2 bike rack you are going to prefer the Draw Tite hitch part # 24897 that you mentioned. The reason is because Curt requires you to use a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 whenever you carry a non-supported load like a bike rack and Draw Tite does not have that requirement. Plus Draw Tite recommends reinstalling the fascia unlike the Curt. I am sure there would be a way to trim the fascia and install the Curt if you really wanted to.
The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video I attached for more info.
If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
