Comparing Equal-I-Zer and Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution Systems

Question:

I am stuck between the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW and Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW I will be towing this with 2 separate vehicles and dont want to make a lot of adjustments. Just set it close enough for both and go. Do you recommend one over the other ?

We sell more Reese dual-cam (Strait-Line) weight distribution systems than Equal-I-zer systems. But we have also carried Reese products since etrailer began and haven't had Equal-I-zer as long.

The thing about Equal-I-zer is that they have brand recognition. People know who and what Equal-I-zer is which is why they are so popular. Their systems do work but like any friction type of sway control system they make a lot of noise and components can wear out faster than non-friction systems. But all weight distribution systems make some noise.

The biggest issue people have with the Reese Strait-Line systems is that the systems require a lot of fine tuning to get everything just right. But if you take the time to do that by following the instructions they work beautifully. I do have real world experience with both types of systems and in my opinion the Reese Strait-Line systems are superior than friction style systems. Both are very good systems and I think you would be happy either way.

The Equalizer part # EQ37100ET would be a great choice for you, but like I said I would go with the # RP66083 if it were me.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
