Can a Coleman Fleetwood Pop Up be Converted From Slipper Spring to Double Eye

Question:

I have a 2001 Coleman Fleetwood Bayside Pop Up Camper, GAWR=3000, GVWR=3350, I currently have slipper leaf springs and I was wondering if there are concerns with going with two double eye springs rated for 3500lbs per pair? i.e. - Code:   e54SR? There is minimal clearance around the wheel well, and I want to ensure that my wheels do not bottom out anywhere within the well. I purchased replacement slipper leaf springs rated for 3000lbs/pair, but the weight of the trailer compressed them to the point the tires were rubbing on the rear of the wheel well, so I had to put the originals back on.

If you wanted to convert your slipper spring suspension to double-eye suspension you certainly could.

It would be just a matter of changing springs and hangers.

You would need to go with a leaf spring that is rated for the weight of your trailer when it is loaded an ready to go. I attached a page that has all of the double eye springs we offer. At the top is a chart that has all of the springs and their capacities. Select the capacity you need and then on the product page the correct hanger kit will be listed as a related product.

The part # e54SR is a very popular 3,500 lb axle double-eye spring. Then for a hanger we have the part # APS1 for hangers that are 1-1/2 inch tall in front and 7/8 tall in rear. Or the part # APS4 for 3-1/4 inch in front and 1-1/2 inch in rear.
