Best Adjustable Trailer Hitch for 1997 Chevrolet Pickup
Question:
I have a basic 1997 Chevy K series pick-up that has a ball screwed into the hole in the bumper. Is there an adapter that is available to screw into that same hole that enables it to come out and then down to lower the overall height of the ball? Id rather not mount a whole new hitch below the bumper.

I do have an option however it will require a new trailer hitch receiver. There is no adapter to go from a bumper hitch ball to a lower height.
I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Class III trailer hitch receiver # 41524. There is no drilling required for installation and the hitch is quite hidden under the bumper. There is a picture attached of the hitch receiver on a Chevrolet very similar to yours.
I also suggest an Curt Adjustable ball mount # C45900. You mentioned that you're trying to bring the height of your hitch down and the best way to do that is with an adjustable ball mount. This way it can always be modified to the level of your trailer. I've included a video on the Curt for you.
You may also need hiring harness for you Chevy # 118315.
There is also a Help Article attached about choosing the correct ball mount.
