Compatibility of Reese 15K 5th Wheel Hitch With Other Trucks

Question:

Have an 04 Silverado 2500 HD with the Reese 15K hitch... Would you know what other years this hitch will fit? Thanks

The fifth wheel hitch itself isn't a vehicle specific item, but the install bracket/rails/hardware IS vehicle specific. The only other vehicle specific consideration is the size of the truck bed.

If you have a long bed truck, use a stationary hitch. For a 6-1/2 foot bed, you'd want to use a sliding hitch to provide the proper clearance between the front of the fifth wheel and the back of the truck cab. If you have the super short 5-1/2 foot bed, the slider won't provide enough clearance and you wouldn't be able to make turns. In that case, you'd need a stationary, non-sliding hitch and a Sidewinder.

The Sidewinder moves the pivot between the trailer and the hitch 22 inches rearward, providing additional clearance between the truck and the fifth wheel. The model of Sidewinder you'd need is dictated by the manufacturer and model number of the pin box used on your fifth wheel. The pin box should have a sticker or plate on it somewhere that gives this information.

I'll link you to our FAQ article about the Sidewinder. The article explains how the Sidewinder works, and if you scroll down the page a bit, you can see which Sidewinder models work with which pin box models.

You can use our vehicle fitguide to find a custom or a universal bracket/rail kit by inputting the year make and model vehicle.
