Left Brake Light Not Working After Installing Cargo Box With Lights on 2006 Hyundai Tucson

Question:

My girlfriend had a cargo box installed on the back of her 2006 Hyundai Tucson and months later the left brake light isnt working. The bulb/fixture is good and the turn signal works fine. Could the problem lye with the trailer etrailer box??? The right side works good.

If the cargo box that is on the back of her 2006 Hyundai Tucson has lights on it, then there is a possibility that something is not hooked up correctly or has come disconnected.

I would start by checking the trailer wiring connector on the 2006 Hyundai Tucson, part # 118397 and make sure it is working correctly and not corroded. Also, make sure it has a good ground connection with metal-to-metal contact. Also check to make sure all the wiring points are good.

If the connector is not working properly, you will need a friend to help you test the wiring going in and out of the converter. Using a circuit tester, part # PTW2993, test the wire functions going into the converter on the vehicle wiring harness to make sure they are all working properly. Have your friend turn on the lights and signals, when testing the corresponding wires for that function. If the proper signals are entering the converter but not coming out of converter on the correct wires, then the converter may be bad and need to be replaced.

If the vehicle connector is functioning properly, I would then check the wiring in the taillight harness on the cargo box to make sure there are no bad connections or pinched wires.
