Parts Needed to Install 7-Way on 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 with 4-Way
Question:
So I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500, just the base model, it does not have the tow package, I currently have a 4 wire plug, that one plugged in under the bed on each side, I would like to put a 7 plug on it, will the 7 plug u guys sell will plug in directly also where my 4 plugged in?

Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.
If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 and # 3020-P instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller. The blue wire of the # 3020-P would need to be cut out of the harness and ran to the 7-way like in the install video attached.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
