Trailer Hitch and Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2011 Nissan Frontier

Question:

I have a 2011 Nissan Frontier SE 4x4 V6 engine. I currently have no hitch or anything installed. I am hoping to tow a 26foot Sunlime Satellite that is 4800 pounds. I am new to towing and inexperienced in the equipment/set up I need to purchase and install. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

First you will need a trailer hitch installed on your 2011 Nissan Frontier like the Draw Tite part # 75282 which is a confirmed fit. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

For your trailer that weighs 4,800 lbs the Pro Series WD system part # PS49582 would most likely be properly rated, but you would need to verify the tongue weight of your setup first. If it falls between 550 and 750 lbs this system would work well.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.

Next it is time for wiring. You will need the part # 118266 which is a 7-way harness.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.

The correct install harness would be the # 3050-P.
