How to Determine if Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution EQ37100ET Would be Rated for Westwind WT251

Question:

Hello, I need to know if this Equal-i-zer with sway control will work for me...EQ37100ET. I have a 2012 Ram 1500 crew cab with airbags. Travel trailer is a Westwind WT251, 6800 lbs GVWR, the TW is rated 441lbs dry, I also carry about 100lbs behind rear axle in box. Not sure of the actual TW when loaded. Need advice, my current setup is prone to sway in crosswinds, I would like to upgrade. Thanks.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Most likely the part # EQ37100ET would work well for you but you would need to verify the tongue weight beforehand. This system has a tongue weight range of 600-1,000 lbs and your tongue weight could range anywhere in that range most likely just depending on what you plan on carrying.

You will need a thin walled socket to install the ball if you don't have one. For that part # ALL643216.
