Installing a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Subaru only has the T-connector for lights on a 2010 Outback. I however, have a 7 pole trailer connector on my pop up camper. How can I use the system with my present connector on the camper?

You are correct, the 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon current has a T-One trailer wiring harness, # 118467, available. In order to use the 7-Way on your pop-up camper, you will first need to install this 4-Way. I have included a link to the installation details and a video installation below.
At this point, you have 2 options. You can install a 4-Way to 7-Way adapter like # 30717 that you have referenced, plug in the 4-Way installed previously to the back and only use it for trailer light functions, taping up the remaining wires except the white ground that should be attached to the frame, and stowing them out of the way.
The second option, if you want to use all the functions on the 7-Way, is to install a 4 and 7-Way installation kit, # ETBC7, and a brake controller. Since your pop-up camper has a 7-Way, it must have electric brakes. To use this feature, you will need to install a 7-Way like ETBC7 and a brake controller in the cab of the Outback.
The installation of an ETBC7 kit is not very difficult and it comes with everything you need to have a functioning 7-Way and will allow a brake controller to function. I have included a link below that explains the installation of an ETBC7 kit along with a video showing the installation, should you decide to install a 7-Way and brake controller.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, # 90885. It is the newest version of the popular and highly rated Prodigy series of brake controllers. I have included a link to the installation details below.
