What Connectors to Install on Vehicle and Trailer that Use 4-Way for Adding Battery Charge Circuit
Question:
I have a yellow, green and brown wire on my trailer and need to splice the black wire on the breakaway box to the wire that draws power from the tow vehicle. Would I connect the black wire from the box to the brown wire on my trailer?

You are going to have to upgrade your 4-way setup to a connector style that has an additional pin for the 12 volt circuit for the breakaway kit. On your vehicle you would want to go with the # 37185 to convert it to a 7-way. This will plug right into the 4-way and will allow you to run a 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 through a circuit breaker # 9510 to the positive post of the battery.
Then on your trailer you would need to remove the 4-way and install a # H20046.
The brown wire you mentioned is for the running lights and would not be the correct wire to use.
