Which 7-Way Circuits Need to Be Active to Use a Wireless Brake Controller

Question:

I am new to trailer wiring. I am about to rent an RV trailer that has a wireless brake controller. I currently have a flat 4 connector on my Highlander. I know I have to provide a 7 way connector. My question is: does the 7 way have to provide 12 V power to the trailer? I guess it does. But, I assume that the blue wire can be taped off and left unconnected on the vehicle side. The blue wire signal is replaced by the RF signal but everything else must be essentially the same? I was told that the trailer unit could be run off the trailer battery but that does not make much sense to me. If you can comment on these questions, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

To use a wireless brake controller with your Highlander that currently has a 4-way will require you to install the 7-way adapter part # 37185. With this adapter all you would need to do is plug in your 4-way to it and then run the black wire up to your vehicle battery through a circuit breaker like part # 9510 with 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 to the positive post of your vehicle battery.

You would not need to have the blue wire ran anywhere so you could just cut it off or tape it up and out of the way.
