Comparison Of T-Connector Trailer Wiring Harnesses For 2012 Honda CR-V
Question:
Hello, I have questions about each of the following T trailer wiring kits for my 2012 Honda CRV AWD: Product 1: T-One 118561 Product 2: Curt C56158 Question 1: Which product is more popular and why? Question 2: Can you send me the specification sheet on each of the two products. I would especially like to know the continuous battery amperage draw of each product with the key out of the ignition. The continuous amperage draw will likely be called out in units of amps, milliamps, or microamps. Question 3: Where is each of these products made? USA, China, other location? Thank You

Both of the trailer wiring harnesses you mentioned have good reviews from our customers. Since most folks tend to price shop they may choose the Curt Wiring Harness, part # C56158.
The Tow-Ready Harness, part # 118561 is a nice harness as well and both use the same connection points located behind the driver side tail lights. Both harnesses use the powered module that connects uses power from the battery and reduces strain on the electrical system of your CR-V.
The most significant difference is the maximum amperage these harnesses can handle. The Tow-Ready has a maximum output of 2.1 amps for the stop and turn lights and a maximum output of 5 amps for tail lights.
The Curt system has a maximum stop and turn light output of 3 amps and for tail lights the maximum is 6 amps.
We do not have the spec sheets on the products and they are not included with the installation instructions but I called my contacts at Tow-Ready and Curt and the amperage draw when the ignition is off is around 15 milliamps, which is a very insignificant power loss.
