Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

Question:

Hi there. I am looking to buy a class III trailer hitch for my Rav4 hybird. Your site doesnt show hybrid. Other sites say the regular does not work like for the curt. Can you help me find the right one to order? Any of your brands.

The trailer hitches for the 2016 Toyota RAV4 such as Curt hitch # C13149 or etrailer # e98864 will fit the hybrid models. It is the electric model, designated as EV, that can't be equipped with a trailer hitch. Please note that your RAV4 is rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 1,750 pounds. Anything over 1,000 pounds should have electric brakes. Consult your owner's manual for more information.

If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For trailer wiring use # 118578 to add a 4-Way flat trailer connector to the rear of the vehicle. I have linked videos showing example installations of the hitch and wiring for you.
