Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2013 Kia Soul

Question:

There are 3 recommended hitches for the 2013 Soul. The Curt hitch seems to have an additional angle bracket where it attaches to the frame. The shipping weight of the Curt hitch is #30 while the shipping weight of the Draw-Tite is #21+. Is there a structural difference in the 3 hitches offered? ie: larger sq. tubing of thicker plate steel. The reason I ask is that I want to installing an alum motorcycle rack suggestions? for a Mo-Ped where the combined weight of rack and Mo-Ped #170 will be right at or slightly over, the max tongue weight of #200. I will also need an adapter kit to raise the rack. I will also be purchasing an air lift kit to help with the suspension. Are there an supplemental attachment to take some of the weight off the hitch: like straps to the top of the hatchback, bracket to add to the center of the hitch?

All the trailer hitches we offer for your 2013 Soul are Class l hitches and have a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. All three hitches have a weight capacity of 2,000-lbs and a 200-lb tongue weight capacity. I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 24839. We have had great customer reviews on the hitch and its performance.

You will need to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to see if the capacity of your vehicle is less than the capacity of the trailer hitch. We find that is normally the case. Adding a cargo strap like part # 18050 will reduce the stress on the back of your Kia but it will not increase the load-carrying capacity. Adding suspension enhancement will not increase the weight capacity of your vehicle either.

We do not offer trailers that would accommodate a mo-ped.
