Currently, the only trailer hitch we offer that is confirmed as a fit for the 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI is the Curt Class I Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C11412. This Class I trailer hitch features a 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver with a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds and tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. No drilling or welding is required to install this hitch, and the installation instructions are linked for you. I've also attached an installation video of this hitch on a 2016 Golf GTI.

It is important to note that in order to comply with Curt's warranty for the # C11412 hitch, all non-trailer loads, such as bike racks and cargo carriers, need to be support with a stabilization strap, # 18050.
